The August luncheon meeting topic will be as hot as the weather! But, don’t worry, we’ll supply the air conditioning.  Don’t let the heat stop you from hearing from Dick Brown, executive director of communications and public outreach for the Public Protection Cabinet, the Energy and Enviornment Cabinet and the Labor Cabinet. Dick is a professional communicator who has been in the industry for 40 years.

He will give you the inside scoop on Kentucky media and politics in the Internet age.  After serving as Humana’s director of corporate communications for 12 years, he took on the task of managing communications for Governor Steve Beshear. During his 6 months in that position, Dick observed first-hand how the media that covers politics in Kentucky can dictate policy, craft public opinion and even drive its own message through the Internet.Dick’s background includes both radio and TV news reporting in both Lexington and Louisville. His television experience also includes serving as a public affairs producer and on-air host for KET. In addition, Dick was a lobbyist for health insurance companies in Kentucky.
