THE VALUE OF IABC MEMBERSHIP
Read what three current members of IABC-Kentucky have to say about the benefits of joining IABC.
What can IABC do for your career? What you get out depends on what you put in. I have been a member for 29 years. For three of those years, I had to pay my own dues, even though I didn’t even have a local chapter and all the benefits that come from programs and networking. It was worth the money. Several years ago, I paid a one-time fee to become a lifetime member. I subjected myself to the challenging accreditation process, and wear the ABC initials with pride. I’ve been a president and board member for many years in two different cities. I have attended an assortment of world and regional conferences. My point is that clearly, I believe in the benefits an IABC membership can provide. I have met dozens — make that hundreds — of colleagues I feel free to call upon when I’m in some professional dilemma. Access to the worldwide directory is one of the most valuable tools members receive.
I apologize for the commercial, but not for my accolades for IABC. Joining is an investment in your career. March is a good time to make that investment.
— Dan Hicks, ABC
Senior Delegate, IABC member since 1980
As a college student, IABC gave me opportunities to network with professionals from a variety of fields. Also, as a student, I had the privilege of participating in the mentor program. My IABC mentor has been the single most influential component of my professional development. Now as a board member and college graduate, I continue to count on my mentor and IABC chapter members for professional development and support.
— Lindsey Keller
VP, Educational Relations, IABC Executive Board
IABC is a great resource for networking with other communications professionals. The monthly lunch programs are very informative and feature speakers from a wide variety of organizations who speak on an array of topics. I’ve found it invaluable as a professional development tool.
